WORKSHOP:
Conceptual Art as an Engineering Diagram, or an Engineering Diagram as Conceptual Art.
The workshop will show what is exciting in the diagram from mapping historical processes to its possibility as a work of art or being an artwork’s ‘back of house’.
Some inspiring readings of Manuel Delanda texts will be analyzed in relation to Young & Giroux’s art practice. Some examples of diagrams will be showed, emphasizing its differences from Fred Jameson’s cognitive mapping, and Mark Lombardi’s ones, focusing on the interest of pulling in narratives from the philosophy of science and economic history, among others.
The practical part of the workshop will include the use of software to produce either drafts of artworks, or prototypes of artworks.
